Abstract

In this scientific work the author refers to the achievements of control programs from 1959 syphilis and human infection virus / acquired immunologic deficiency syndrome (HIV/AIDS) programs integrated maternal and child health and sexually transmitted infections (STI).
There is an emphasis on the political will of the Cuban government in implementing and monitoring these programs through its structured health system.
The author presents views of the world health authorities (PAHO and WHO) where there is recognition of the successful national health system or Cuba.
