Abstract

Ethics is a part of philosophy that deals with the morals and obligations of man. Morality exists from the very formation of human society and constitutes a set of norms and rules of the conduct of men in society that imposes on its members certain mandates, which are not eternal, that change with the development of society under The influence of the transformations carried out in production and, fundamentally, in the relations of production.

Medical ethics is defined as a set of standards of conduct in health workers. Bioethics, a new paradigm of thought in the exercise of the medical profession, has as its principles: charity, which deals with the obligation to help the patient; Non-maleficence, is the obligation not to cause negligence or intent damage and confidentiality.

In Cuba, the birth of medical ethics dates from the late eighteenth century, through the priest, teacher and thinker Félix Varela y Morales, with its Doctrines of Logic, Metaphysics and Morals, although some trace their origins back to 1711 with Cuban recognition of the Real Court of Protomedicato, institution responsible for legalizing medical practice as a Spanish colony.
