La Habana del Este no tiene su nacimiento con la llegada del triunfo revolucionario, sino se remonta  mucho más atrás, donde la familia Alamilla Gutiérrez jugó un papel primordial, no solo dándole el nombre que actualmente lleva este reparto y su gran poder monetario en aquel entonces,  sino que formaron parte de la historia del pabellón Santos Fernández de nuestro insigne Hospital universitario “General Calixto García” y también de la Oftalmología cubana.
